are 22:30. In less than 12 hours triggered the New York Marathon. The best known and most important marathon in the world ... and I am finally on the line of departure.
Even today, the emotions have changed, especially in the evening.
the hotel there is the confusion of the previous days. Everything seems orderly. Everything is silent. It seems almost 40,000 of the Marathon has given way to the individual who, locked in his loneliness, he begins to look within themselves the motivation, the serenity, the grit to face a challenge that few have the courage to groped.
For me that is the same. I just finished preparing my complete silence in the race tomorrow. I have attached to the bib shorts. I made the socks, shoes, and sack race to take the start tomorrow. Shower. And then they start all these little rituals (cream and massage on feet, knees and legs) that serve to make it clear to your body as you love him and that what we will live tomorrow is not a fury against him, but a way to enhance it for make proud to be "my body," ... to thank him for bringing me this far.
I want to celebrate the success ... a thousand times I've seen cut after that fateful milestone 42.195 Km ... a thousand times I have seen raising his arms to the sky ... a thousand times I've seen him smile crossed the line a thousand times ... and yet I have seen walking to New York in the evening with the medal around his neck ... with the pride of being "one of the few." -2. Now New York is full of runners and aspiring.
Near Central Park is hard to find someone who is not in running shoes, shorts and T-shirt ... even if it might be best to wear a sweatshirt. Today comes from the sea air ... cold air ... cold
relaxing day for me today. The preparation is over and legs have a couple of days of rest before 42.195 km drunk all in one go.
It 's a strange day because on the one hand, we should sit at the hotel to rest, the other six in New York and the desire to quit is great. After a brief conversation with the muscles of my legs, it was decided for an exit at about 12, with the walk but not too much so (and if possible use the subway as much as possible). A little 'shopping at the Apple Cube and FAO Schwartz (toy store opened in 1880), then travel to Ground Zero, to understand that air you breathe. And the atmosphere is breathtaking. Dinner at a Tuscan restaurant (we want healthy things to settle our stomachs) and go to bed early. Tomorrow is the eve ...

Wake up at 9 and sgambatina in Central Park. The aftermaths of the zone are still being felt, but the training helps us to merge more and more with this city and the Great Challenge on Sunday.
45 minutes of training, 7 km straight smooth environments and see the last part of the route.
During the finish, near the finish line, I see 100 meters a person who seems to recognize. We are 50 meters and is he Stefano Baldini, Olympic gold medalist in Athens, European Champion two years ago, one of the favorites for the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympic marathon. With one click
